Echiejile Out For Three Weeks, Uzoenyi To Replace Him In World Cup Roster
Published: June 07, 2014
Monaco fullback Elderson Echiejile has been ruled out of the World Cup with a muscle injury sustained in the Super Eagles last friendly against Greece.
And the Nigeria Football Federation has quickly replaced him with Enugu Rangers winger, Ejike Uzoenyi.
It will take up to three weeks before Elderson Echiejile resumes full training, meaning he would have missed all the Group games and perhaps a second round clash against a yet to be determined opponent, assuming Nigeria qualify for the last 16.
Logically, Mamelodi Sundowns bound Uzoenyi will be handed the number 3 jersey earlier allocated to Echiejile.
The versatile Uzoenyi has played left back for Gateway, Enyimba and Enugu Rangers in the domestic championsip.
