Ex USA Youth - Teamer, William John: Eagles Will Show Their True Colours In Brazil
Published: June 08, 2014
Former USA youth - teamer and AZAL midfielder, William Oluremi John, was on the podium when Nigeria clashed with United States on Saturday.
The Super Eagles will head to Brazil without a win in their five exhibition matches, following the 2 - 1 loss to Team USA at EverBank Field (Jacksonville, Florida).
Buoyed by a partisan crowd, Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore scored either side of the half before Victor Moses converted a late penalty to give the States a narrow win.
“I think to be honest, Nigeria still showed some promise. There is nothing to be worried about losing a friendly before the World Cup.
“It would be nice for us to go to Brazil with a win but I think once the team is there, once the world cup is starting, we’ll show the true colors of Nigeria.
“So I was happy to check out the game. I am sure the best is yet to come from the boys, ” William Oluremei John said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
It is worthy of mention that the African champions are adequately prepared for the mundial in terms of the opposition they faced in their tune - up matches, with four of their test games against the top ranked 20 teams in the world (Italy, Greece, USA and Mexico).
Nigeria are pitted in a friendly group at the World Cup, having been drawn alongside Argentina, Bosnia and Iran.
