Asagba To Tutor Coaches At Ogun Intl Soccer Tourney

FIFA/CAF Instructor Professor Babatunde Olu Asagba has been lined up along with former Chelsea FC of London Youth Coach Fennessey Harty Thomas to deliver papers in a train the trainers workshop organise for football coaches at the maiden Under-13/Under-16 International Soccer Tourney tagged Ogun Unity Cup’.
The grassroots tourney that has participants drawn from 36 states of the federation including FCT and teams from West African Countries would begin on Monday at Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode by the former secretary general of Nigeria Football Association, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi.
Addressing the press ahead of the tourney, Prof. Asagba who will deliver paper titled Coaching: The Profession That Certainly Goes Beyond Coaching said most of coaches often tailored their team towards winning matches alone, but not considering other vital aspects such as law of the game and psychological aspect.
Speaking in the same vein, the Scottish who is now Technical Director of Frenage Soccer Academy also stressed the importance of periodical refresher courses especially for soccer coaches handling under age teams, while urging participants to take full advantage of the workshop.
