Super Eagles Depart For Sao Paulo Without Echiejile
Published: June 10, 2014
Contrary to earlier reports, Elderson Echiejile was not part of the traveling party, and that means his place in the squad has been taken by Ejike Uzoenyi of Enugu Rangers.
Football governing body, Fifa, has confirmed via its official website that Ejike Uzoenyi has replaced Echiejile, handing him the number three jersey earlier allocated to the Monaco defender.
All things being equal, Ejike Uzoenyi will link up with the squad in Brazil latest tomorrow, Wednesday, as he had earlier been scheduled to depart Nigeria today.
The plane carrying the delegation will touch down at Guarulhos International Airport, Sao Paulo this evening around 20:40 local time.
The Super Eagles will play their first game at the tournament against Iran on Monday, June 16 at Arena da Baixada, Curitiba.
