Ejike Uzoenyi Says There Is No Turning Back Against Iran
Published: June 13, 2014
Enugu Rangers poster boy, Ejike Uzoenyi, spoke to allnigeriasoccer.com shortly after he arrived Campinas to rejoin the Super Eagles, saying how he is looking forward to Nigeria’s World Cup opener against Iran next Monday.
The Super Eagles left Brazil last year with a dent to their confidence after suffering two consecutive losses against Uruguay and Spain at the Confederations Cup.
Uzoenyi, 26, made the preliminary World Cup roster but was omitted from the final list, and he has stated that there is no turning back when Nigeria square off with Iran at Arena da Baixada, Curitiba.
“I joined the team on Wednesday and I am hoping for a better Super Eagles against Iran.
“I have never heard about Iran or watched them play but I think we have play to respect ourselves and not the opponents.
“If we are there for ourselves, it will be a great victory,” says Ejike Uzoenyi to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Nigeria will travel to Curitiba, the match venue, on Saturday morning in accordance with the rules of the competition.
