Super Eagles Set To Depart For Curitiba Early Afternoon, Hold Open Workout
Published: June 14, 2014
The Super Eagles are in good spirits ahead of their opening game at the mundial against Iran on Monday afternoon.
Going into that clash with the Asia powerhouse at Arena da Baixada, Curitiba, there are no injury concerns, as all the 23 players, including new arrival Ejike Uzoenyi, participated in the workout held on Friday evening.
Unlike their past two practice sessions prior to Friday’s session, the Super Eagles popularity was tested as local fans were allowed to witness the training at Estádio Brinco de Ouro.
Apart from a few incidents involving overzealous fans, it was a typical Nigerian workout, with Stephen Keshi drilling the outfield players while goalkeeping coach Ike Shorunmu took charge of Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim.
After resting on Saturday morning, the squad will take a short - haul domestic flight to Curitiba early afternoon.
