Published: June 17, 2014
Rizespor stopper Godfrey Oboabona will sit out Nigeria’s second Group F fixture against Bosnia on Saturday as he is not expected to recover from a foot injury, team officials have disclosed.
That same injury made him to be substituted just before the hour mark in the tie with Iran on Monday evening, and initial prognosis is that the 23 - year - old will not recover on time for the clash with the Dragons.
“Godfrey Oboabona is not okay. He is not going to play the next game with Bosnia. During the match with Iran, an Iranian player tackled him badly, used his hard studs to make contact with him.
“He has started his rehabilitation but will not train this evening with us, ” Super Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya told SL10.ng.
Logically, Fenerbahce defender Joseph Yobo is expected to replace Oboabona when the Eagles face off with Bosnia just as he did against Iran.
