FOSLA Academy Win 2014 Loyola Jesuit Tourney

FOSLA Academy, Karshi Abuja has emerged as the winners of the 2014 Loyola Jesuit Secondary School Football Tournament after defeating the host school Loyola Jesuit by three goals to one.
The tournament which is an annual event in the School calendar of Loyola Jesuit Secondary School Abuja involved 8 selected private and public secondary schools in FCT saw the Sani Lulu Abdullahi boys drawing the first blood in the 25 minutes when Solomon Abraham out ran the opponent defenders to score a beauty of goal.
The second goal came 15 minutes later when sensational Emmanuel Peters outwitted five defenders to score the second goal.
A mix up in the FOSLA defense at resumption of the second half saw the Loyola boys scoring their lone goal.
The highly entertaining match which was witnessed by a mammoth crowd, saw the FOSLA boys scoring the third goal through Solomon Abraham at the 80th minute.
Speaking immediately after the match, the former President of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Sanni Lulu Abdullahi who is the Proprietor of FOSLA Academy, expressed appreciation to the organizers of the tournament.
Sani Lulu said that the project of FOSLA Academy is a work in progress, as the boys who are basically within 15 years and all in JSS 3 would be ripe to take part in future secondary schools competition by next academic session
“This is the first major competition we are taking part in since the Academy was established in 2011. Though, we have played over 40 friendly matches winning all.
“We now have over 50 boys in the school. The concept is to provide an avenue for children who are naturally endowed to combine their education with football in a very conducive environment.
“We would soon provide our national team selectors a pool where they can pick players of verifiable ages for our national teams,” he said.
To get to the finals, FOSLA Academy defeated the five times winners Government Secondary School Karu, Abuja 2 - 0.
