Marco Tagbajumi Fires Champions League Warning To Zenit St Petersburg
Published: July 29, 2014
Ahead of the UEFA Champions League showdown between AEL Limassol and Zenit St Petersburg at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium on Wednesday, Italian - Nigerian forward Marco Tagbajumi has fired a warning to the Russian opponents.
The Cypriot First Division top marksman of last season is confident that AEL can replicate the achievement of APOEL Nicosia during the 2011 - 2012 campaign, where they advanced to the quarterfinals before their elimination by Real Madrid.
“I expect that we go out there and give all we got and I believe we will get a good result. We have a good team with a good coach behind us so I am not worried.
“If we can match the record of APOEL? I strongly believe in my team, but we have to first show ourselves against Zenit and then we take it from there,” Tagbajumi told allnigeriasoccer.com.
AEL Limassol have qualified for the Champions League play off round only once before, beating FK Partizan Belgrade 2 - 0 on aggregate two seasons ago.
Marco Tagbajumi penned a three - year contract with AEL last week, arriving from Ermis.
