Published: August 13, 2014
Because of the Ebola virus, the Confederation of African Football has considered the possibility of rescheduling the African Cup of Nations qualifying fixture between Nigeria and Rwanda fixed for Saturday, September 6 in Calabar.
According to respected France based sports daily L’Equipe, until September 15, football is prohibited from being played in Guinea and Sierra Leone, two West African countries significantly affected by the virus.
Guinea and Sierra Leone will now contest their qualifiers against Togo and Democratic Republic of Congo at a neutral venue on September 5 and September 10 respectively.
Three people - Liberian Patrick Sawyer, Jatto Asihu Abdulqudir and a nurse - have died of the deadly disease in Nigeria.
The Super Eagles, the defending champions of the African Nations Cup, are pitted in the same group as Rwanda, South Africa and Sudan.
