Published: August 19, 2014
Walter Mazzarri , manager of Inter Milan, has unveiled the players nominated for the Europa League play - off tie against Icelandic team, Stjarnan, on Wednesday evening.
Named in the provisional squad list made public on Tuesday morning are 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 7 midfielders and 3 attackers, and it is from that pool the coach will select his 18 - man squad.
Nigeria international Joel Obi made the roster but will have to compete with Kovacic, Alvarez, Guarin, Kuzmanovic, Hernanes and M’vila for the available midfield positions.
However, everything points to the fact that the 23 - year - old will get a run out against Stjarnan, bearing in mind that he featured in two of the last exhibition games played by the Nerazzurri, against PAOK and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Joel Obi’s solitary appearance in the Europa League came in the group stage of the competition two years ago when the three - time winners tackled Neftci.
Inter Milan, who are scheduled to depart for Iceland today, held their final workout on home soil on Monday.
The squad will have a feel of the Laugardalsvollur Stadium turf, venue of the clash, on Tuesday evening at 18:00 hours local time.
