Contrary to misleading reports by a section of the local press, one of the most respected sports newspapers in Europe, <i>Przeglad Sportowy</i>, has been doing some digging to unravel the decision of the Haiti Federation to call up Emmanuel Sarki for the friendly game with Chile next month. <br /><br />The Wisla Krakow midfielder has claimed, without providing evidence, that his grandfather, who died recently, has Haitian roots.<br /><br />Football governing body, Fifa, has not sanctioned the 26 - year - old to turn out for the Caribbean country, the player, himself has revealed. <br /><br />&ldquo;I do not know if I&rsquo;ll be able to play because I still do not have a passport. I will meet with the country&rsquo;s president and the president of the local Football Federation. <br /><br />&ldquo;Then I&rsquo;ll find out how long the procedure for granting me a passport - maybe a week, maybe two years? The Federation must check my roots, find the names, also, the case has to probably go through FIFA,&rdquo; Sarki told <i>przegladsportowy.pl</i>.<br /><br />The surprise invitation of Emmanuel Sarki generated so much interest back in Nigeria, and the ex Flying Eagle confirmed as much. <br /><br />&ldquo;My phone was ringing all the time. People asked why I do not want to play for Nigeria. I answer that I&rsquo;ve been waiting a long time. I only received invitations for the youth teams.
