Ex Falconets Skipper Gloria Ofoegbu Gives Lowdown On Germany Team
Published: August 23, 2014
Ex Falconets skipper Gloria Ofoegbu has commented on the chances of Nigeria overpowering Germany in Sunday’s final of the Fifa Under 20 World Cup.
The Rivers Angles fullback is the right person to provide a lowdown on the European opposition, having played against them in the final of the 2010 edition, which the Falconets lost 2 - 0 to the host nation.
“The German girls are good; the team we faced in 2010 were strong and physical. But comparing the 2010 squad and that of 2014, I have watched two matches played by Germany at this tournament and I think the Falconets have the advantage.
“My advice to our girls is that they should not be nervous and be eager to score those early minute goals. The goals will certainly come. If they rush, they will end up being nervous and not scoring.
“They should play their normal game and if they do that, they will win. They should be focused and play as a team. Nigerians are waiting for this trophy, I wish them good luck, ” says Gloria Ofoegbu to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The Falcons defender has joined the bandwagon, saying her Rivers Angels teammate, Asisat Oshoala will deliver the killer blow to the Germans, just as she did in previous games at this tourney.
“Oshoala will be important tomorrow as well as Uchechi Sunday. Asisat is my teammate. What I like about her is her fighting spirit. She is too determined and loves to score goals,” the 22 - year - old concluded.
Prior to the clash at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, the German ladies have contested two previous finals winning all, while the Falconets were vice - champions in 2010.
