No Fairytale Debut For West Brom Striker Brown Ideye
It was not a fairytale debut for Nigeria international Brown Ideye at the St. Mary’s Stadium as Southampton hosted West Brom in the second round of matches in the English Premier League.

Seven minutes after the restart, the former Dynamo Kiev attacker replaced another Super Eagle, Victor Anichebe, in attack, but failed to open his goal account for the Baggies after both team played a goalless draw.

Had Ideye converted his chances, the scoreline would have been different, and manager Alan Irvine acknowledged that in his post match comments.

“Brown is a good finisher. It was a good save but I expected him to score.

“But we saw his biggest thing. He has good movement, he’s different to Victor Anichebe in that respect. He likes to make those runs, get behind people. We saw a glimpse of what he can bring us.

“Full marks to him. He’s done very little training, he’s had no pre-season,” says Alan Irvine.

With two points in the kitty, West Brom occupy the 11th position on the table courtesy of the two draws in their first two matches.
