Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Schalke forward Chinedu Obasi will miss the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa due to bureaucratic reasons.
Ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Chelsea on September 17, it is understood that the Nigeria international is processing his visa to the United kingdom, and that means he will not be able to embark on the trip to Calabar.
“It is confirmed that Schalke is with his passport, and he is not coming for the game,” a source close to Chinedu Obasi told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The 28 - year - old has not dressed for the national team since the 1 - 3 loss to Argentina in Bangladesh back in September 2011.
On that occasion, he scored the only goal for the Super Eagles, finding the back of the net immediately after his introduction in the second half.
