Ikechukwu Uche Fires Back At Interim Nigeria Manager, Stephen Keshi
Published: September 03, 2014
Villarreal’s Ikechukwu Uche has immediately fired back at interim Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi for criticizing him during a press briefing on Wednesday.
It is common knowledge that the relationship between master and pupil is far from cordial, with Stephen Keshi failing to hand him a call up to the national team since after the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
And the attacker has been questioned on his committment to the national team cause by the selectors, an argument he feels does not hold water.
“It’s an honour to play for Nigeria. I don’t expect to be begged or given special treatment. I’m available when/if considered for selection, ” Ikechukwu Uche said on his Twitter page.
Since making his debut sometime in 2007, Uche has found the back of the net 18 times in 44 matches for the African champions.
He last dressed for the Super Eagles on February 10, 2013 when they clashed with Burkina Faso in the Afcon final.
