Golden Eaglets Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke Rues Missed Chances

After encountering problems with their travel to Gabon, the CAF Under 17 Championship qualifier between the Nigeria Under 17s and their Gabonese counterparts took place on Sunday afternoon in Libreville.
The defending champions of the Under 17 World Cup lost 2 - 1 to the home team, with Osimhen’s opener in the 4th minute cancelled out by Moubouhy Ngouba in the 26th minute before the match winner scored by Maomikolo Boundembi ten minutes from the final whistle.
In his post match comments, coach Emmanuel Amuneke said : “The boys gave their best under the circumstances that we found ourselves especially the difficult travelling arrangement which caused fatigue especially in the second half.”
“But with all sense of responsibility, the officiating of this match was poor but we have to put this behind us and focus on the second leg.
“From what we have seen, we would have come out with a better result if we had taken our chances in the first half.”
The second leg will be contested in about two weeks time, with the overall winner qualifying for the final tournament which will be hosted by Niger from February 15 - March 1, 2015.
