Obasi, Aogo And Sam Named In Schalke Squad To Face Chelsea
Published: September 16, 2014Ahead of the game against Chelsea in their opening fixture in the UEFA Champions League, Schalke 04 arrived the capital of England on Tuesday with a 21 - man squad.
Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi is one of the five attackers included in the provisional squad list, but will have to compete with Donis Avdijaj, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for a starting shirt.
Also named in the roster are Germany internationals of Nigeria descent Dennis Aogo and Sidney Sam.
Previewing the game, Dennis Aogo told Schalke’s official website : “Despite being well beaten in both matches by Chelsea last year, we played well, especially in London. We were well organised in the first 20 minutes, it’s just a shame we didn’t score a goal.”
“We are now focused firmly on Chelsea and examining their strengths and weaknesses.”
28 - year - old Chinedu Obasi is yet to feature in an official game for the Royal Blues so far this season.
