Peter Odemwingie Confirms Surgery Was Successful
Published: September 25, 2014
Crocked Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie has undergone surgery to repair his knee ligaments which he damaged against Manchester City at the end of August, the player has confirmed through his official Twitter account.
However, both the 33 - year - old and the medical team at the Potters are keeping sealed lips on the length of time he would have to spend on the sidelines.
The Nigeria international took time to congratulate his teammates, especially two - goal hero Marc Muniesa, for the victory over Sunderland in the League Cup on Tuesday, a day before he went under the knife.
“Heard we won and @muniesa92 scored twice! What a day and win !! More good news for us Potters as my surgery today also went well,” Peter Odemwingie said.
The Nigeria international, who comes off contract with Stoke City next summer, has scored 6 Premier League goals in 17 appearances for the Britannia Stadium outfit.
He will certainly miss the 2015 African Cup of Nations in January, if the Super Eagles qualify for the tournament.
