Everton Manager Roberto Martinez Plays Down Man City Link To Ross Barkley
Published: September 25, 2014
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has played down speculation linking Anglo - Nigerian midfielder Ross Barkley with a shift to Manchester City.
He has claimed that the English Premier League champions have not backed their reported interest by making an official approach to Everton.
“It’s a rumour and we’ll leave it there. We’ve spoken enough in the past about potential interest and I always mention the same – we take it as a footballing compliment and we’ll move on.
“All we want from Ross now is to be able to get him fully fit and get him ready to enjoy his football and help the team. We are looking forward to that day,” Roberto Martinez stated.
The England international extended his stay at the Toffees for four additional seasons in the close season.
