Seattle Sounders marksman Obafemi Martins has smashed Eddie Johnson’s franchise single-season scoring record following his brace in the 4 - 2 defeat of Chivas USA on Saturday at the CenturyLink Field.
Those pair of goals took his tally so far this season to 15 goals in 27 matches, surpassing the 14 goals Eddie Johnson netted back in 2012.
The Nigeria international netted for the 14th time this season in the 14th minute before completing his brace six minutes after the restart.
The 29 - year - old is now joint third on the MLS scoring chart, level on 15 goals with Robbie Keane, Estafano Torres and Gyasi Zardes.
In his last 10 games in all competitions, Obafemi Martins has found the back of the net 8 times.
