Austin Ejide Ranked The Top Nigerian Player In Israel Ahead Of Igiebor And Oshaniwa
Published: September 29, 2014
Highly respected Israeli publication, Sports Walla, has published its eagerly anticipated top ranking of footballers plying their trade in the Israeli Premier League, counting down from number 315 to 1.
As widely expected Super Eagles goalkeeper Austin Ejide was the top ranked Nigerian player in Israel, after he was ranked in the 40th position.
Fellow Nigeria internationals Nosa Igiebor of Maccabi Tel Aviv and MS Ashdod fullback Juwon Oshaniwa occupy the 73rd and 86th position respectively.
“Sixth-best goalie in the rankings, and stability is a feature that he really lacks. Had his best season in Israel last season (14 games with conceding, only 26 goals he let in).
“But then came the summer with a variety of errors, and Beersheba are wishing they will get as much as from Ejide as last season,” the editors said on Austin Ejide.
Nosa Igiebor : “ So far not really mention it leaving Hapoel Tel Aviv with the winning goal in the cup final. Paco, as most of the raters, still not impressed. As most of the raters, still not impressed . ”
Juwon Oshaniwa : “Kept his place in the Nigeria World Cup squad. Not too bright for Ashdod, ranked only 86th.”
Summer acquisitions John Ogu and Benjamin Francis were rated in 112nd and 113rd position respectively while Yero Bello of MS Ashdod, in 101st place, finished as the fourth best Nigerian player on the list.
