Edwin Okon Unveils 21 - Woman AWC Squad List?
Published: September 30, 2014Coach of the Falcons, Edwin Okon, on Monday unveiled his 21 - woman squad list for the African Women’s Championship scheduled to begin in Namibia on October 11, subject to the ratification of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Some of the headline names on the list include Asisat Oshoala, Perpetua Nkwocha, Desire Oparanozie and Onome Ebi.
An analysis of the roster revealed that 3 goalkeepers, 6 defenders, 6 midfielders and 6 strikers have been named in the squad, with Rivers Angels contributing 11 players to the pool.
Six players plying their trade outside the shores of the country, including Houston Dynamo center back Ohale Osinachi, will be on the plane to Namibia.
Nigeria are in Group A of the tournament alongside Ivory Coast, Zambia and Namibia.
