Lille Manager, Rene Girard Singing The Praises Of Vincent Enyeama
Published: October 04, 2014
Manager of Lille, Rene Girard, was singing the praises of Nigeria numero
uno Vincent Enyeama after his impressive showing against Wolfsburg in
the Europa League on Thursday night.
If not for the form of the experienced goalkeeper, the German opponents would have walked away from the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA with all three points.
The Super Eagles skipper, who made 11 saves, received plaudits from the French manager in his post match comments.
“Vincent Enyeama did what he had to do. I would say that Enyeama was his usual self. He was there when he had to be.
“That is the characteristic of goalkeepers of a high level and he is definitely of a very high level.
“Defensively, we were strong, solid, but he was very active. We were like a reed that bent but still managed to stand up.
“It’s good, because the boys can see now that they can live with these games of such a high intensity,” Rene Girard told reporters at a press conference.
Belgium international Divock Origi gave Lille a 77th minute before another Belgium National Teamer Kevin De Bruyne leveled matters for Wolfsburg five minutes later.
