Falcons Beat Namibia To Qualify For AWC Semis

Six - time African champions the Falcons of Nigeria defeated Namibia 2 - 0 on Friday to confirm their place in the semi - finals of the ongoing Africa Women’s Championship.
The Africa powerhouse progressed to the next stage of the competition thanks to goals from free - kick expert Gloria Ofoegbu and Francisca Ordega.
The victory over the hosts means Nigeria are assured of winning Group A no matter the outcome of the other grop fixture between Ivory Coast and Zambia, having garnered the maximum 9 points from 3 matches.
The Falcons will qualify for the World Cup in Canada next year if they win their semi - final tie against the team that will finish second in Group B.
Prior to the tournament in Namibia, Nigeria have won the Africa Women’s Championship only once in the last three editions.
