Taiwo Awoniyi Scores For Kalmar Under 21s In Loss To Malmo
Published: October 22, 2014
Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi jetted out of the country mid - October to resume training with Kalmar.
As you would expect, the weather conditions in Scandinavia are unfavorable this time of the year, but the teenager is adapting to it nonetheless.
On paper, the 17 - year - old is only practicing with the Swedish topflight team until he becomes eligible to sign professional terms next August when he attains the age of maturity.
“This is not the first time Awonyi has trained under these conditions with Kalmar, so he is not surprised.
“He is training with the main team of Kalmar but plays for the Under 21s because he can’t participate in official matches for the main team until he clocks 18.
“ He took part in an Under 21 game against Malmo FF on Monday; scored a goal and created an assist ,” a source close to the player told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The product of Imperial Soccer Academy appeared 7 times for the Golden Eaglets at the Fifa Under 17s, scoring 4 times.
