Metalist Defender Ayila Yussuf To Be Sidelined For Five Months
Published: October 24, 2014
Dynamo Kiev loanee Ayila Yussuf will have to spend five months on the sidelines after picking up an injury while in action in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
In the 76th minute of the encounter between Metalist and Legia Warsaw, the experienced defender had to be replaced after feeling pains.
Initial evaluation by club medics suggests that the Nigeria international can only resume full practice in March, assuming he does not suffer a relapse during rehabilitation.
Therefore, the 29 - year - old will sit out the three remaining matches in Group L of the Europa League, meaning he will only feature in the competition again this season if Metalist qualify for the knock out rounds.
At this stage, that is looking very unlikely as the Ukrainian bronze champions have lost their opening three games, and are 6 points behind second on the table Trabzonspor.
Ayila Yussuf is tied to Metalist until the end of the 2014 - 2015 season.
