Vincent Enyeama Makes Passionate Appeal To CAF To Postpone Afcon
Published: October 24, 2014
Speaking after Lille’s goalless draw with Everton in the Europa League, Nigeria numero uno Vincent Enyeama has called on continental governing body CAF to cancel next year’s African Cup of Nations due to fears about Ebola.
But the Super Eagles skipper has given his word that he will turn out for the defending champions if they qualify for the tournament in Morocco, assuming CAF stick to their guns to go ahead with the competition.
Daily Mail quoted Vincent Enyeama as saying : “I really wish it doesn’t happen with all the people that will be moving around.
“But I’m not CAF. I’m not the one who calls the shots. It’s risky for everyone because you go to Africa and then everyone is hugging you and shaking you, and what can you do? You’re at risk.
“But if it happens I will play, if we qualify.”
Nigeria will qualify for the African Cup of Nations if they secure two wins in their remaining Group A fixtures.
