Nigeria Women Football League To Honour First Lady As Grand Patron Of Women Football In Nigeria
Published: October 26, 2014The Nigeria Women Football League plans to honour Nigeria’s First Lady and President of Africa First Ladies Peace Mission, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan with the award of Grand Patron of Women Football in Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Women League and leader of Nigeria’s delegation to the just concluded Africa Women Football championship in Namibia, Chief (Mrs.) Dilichukwu Onyedinma said in a statement that the award will be made to Her Excellency, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan when the Super Falcons present the Africa Women trophy to President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
She said that the performance of the Falcons is a clear manifestation of the improvement of the Nigeria Women League.
She said that the Falcons won the coveted trophy for the peace of Nigeria especially as the government of Nigeria tackles the current security challenges in the country.
She said the First Lady deserves the award in view of the laudable role she is playing in Africa.
She is optimistic that the conferment of the award on the First Lady will improve the lot of the Nigerian women footballers, moreover, as the first lady would be more appreciated if she donates a Women Championship trophy for clubsides in Africa.
