Italy Coach Antonio Conte Explains Reason For Snubbing Stefano Okaka
Published: November 10, 2014
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Italy’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Croatia, national team boss Antonio Conte has acknowledged that Sampdoria forward Stefano Okaka has been impressive this season.
However, the manager noted that he could not hand him an invitation to the Azzurri because he had other options in attack.
“He’s doing well, as Matri and Quagliarella. I chose Balotelli because we followed him, he always tried to do his best.
“If every three minutes in Serie A had to summon all, then it would not be an ambition to arrive at the National, ” Conte said.
Stefano Okaka has totaled 12 appearances for the youth teams of Italy, scoring 4 goals in the process.
