Oyo Police In A Running Battle For CP Cup
Published: December 08, 2014In the spirit of creating a sporting atmosphere for members of Oyo Command of Nigerian Police Force to recreate, the command is kicking-off a soccer tournament tagged ‘CP Cup’ on Tuesday 9th at the Police playing groundEleyele Ibadan.
The soccer event which enters its second edition would be played among eight teams formed from different Police formation within the State Command.
Teams that are expected to feature this year according to the officer-in-charge of sports in the state, DSP Segun Famuyiwa are Iyaganku Area Command Team, Agodi Area Command Team, Oyo Area Command Team, Ogbomoso Area Command Team, Headquarters’ Ops Team, Anti Bomb/ Skynet Team, Band and Mess Team and a Team from Mopol 4.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo who would be the Chief host of the event told newsmen ahead of the tourney that sporting activities is an integral part of Police system which the force has used for lift of the country globally.
He however, assured people of good soccer display from his men that would be vying for honour in the two weeks soccer event that would be rounded up on Wednesday 17th this month.
He also noted that the competition might be extended next year to accommodate participants from other sister’s security agencies with aim to bolster the bond between Police and other arms of security agencies.
