Uche Okagbue has been named as the new Remo Stars FC manager for the new Nigeria National League Season (NNL).
The Ogun State based team opted for the Nnewi based tactician following the departure of Olabode Awakan to fierce rivals Gateway United.
Okagbue who previously had spells with Gabros FC and FRSC FC in 2013 and 2014 both in the NNL has been handed the task of leading the Sky Blue Stars in the new season .
“This club has big ambitions and I want to be part of her history. Its desire for youth development is also something that means a lot to me personally.
“I was pleased to see young footballers give one of the best team in Nigeria, Enyimba a hard time in the Federations Cup in 2013.
“I have managed in games in Ijebu-Ode before and knows what an area the Dipo-Dina stadium is and how passionate the Ijebu-Ode fans are, ” said Okagbue.
Olabode Awakan crossed to Abeokuta at the end the 2014 season, and team chairman Kunle Soname is convinced he has appointed the right man.
“The tactical brilliance of his team speaks a whole lot of what he can bring to our football club in which I saw the last time he visited Ijebu-Ode with Gabros FC, ” said Soname.
“In Uche Okagbue, we have secured the services of a good, young, disciplined and courageous manager.
“The board is right behind him in his plans and everyone here is already looking forward to the start of next season. ”
