With the Finnish Veikkausliiga yet to begin, Nigerian striker Henry Ugwunna has already bagged three goals for Ilves, and all of the strikes came in the League Cup.
On Saturday, the new Ilves signing netted his third goal in the competition in the 2 - 1 win over Lahti, scoring just before the hour mark in the game held at Pirkkahalli, Tampere.
“Lahti is a tough side, a side ready to play in the Europa League this year,” Henry Ugwunna told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We were very composed and dedicated and the result reflects the hard work put into the game by our team Ilves.
“My success this season is based on hard work and trust in God.
“My target is to keep working hard, keep focusing on every game as they come.”
Aged 25, Ugwunna netted 4 goals in 21 appearances last season for Haka.
