Dad Backs Arsenal Starlet Alex Iwobi To Wear Nigeria Jersey Ahead Of England

Arsenal Under 21 skipper Alex Iwobi is keen to represent Nigeria at senior level despite having caps for the youth teams of England, and his father, Chuka Iwobi, a lawyer, has backed him all the way.
The 18 - year - old has been fraternizing with the Nigeria Under 23s since January, and would have debuted against Gabon last weekend if not for missing paperwork.
“Alex is very, very keen and the entire family is enthusiastic for him to represent Nigeria.
“He was born here in Nigeria but we took him as a four –month old baby to England and he has been there ever since.
“He turned out for England at U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels in a number of friendlies and invitational tournaments, but we are all eager for him to play for Nigeria at senior level,” Chuka Iwobi told thenff.com.
It has been reported that Alex Iwobi will play his first match for Nigeria in the international friendly with Bolivia next month, subject to approval form Fifa.
