Vincent Enyeama Is Quickest Nigerian Player To Reach 100 Caps, Beats Joseph Yobo By 15 Months
Published: March 13, 2015
Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has showered praise on the Nigeria Football Federation following the decision of the body to recognize him in two weeks time when the Super Eagles face off against Bolivia.
If the ex Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv custodian gets match time against the South Americans, it would be his 100th international appearance for Nigeria.
“Nothing matches being recognized by your own country. I am very excited at the prospect of reaching 100 caps, and more so at the decision by the NFF to honour me on the day.
“The NFF media department has also been speaking with me and I have followed the publicity they have generated about it. It is a delight. I am also excited by the fact that it will happen in Uyo, my hometown. What a great honour!” Vincent Enyeama told thenff.com.
Vincent Enyeama will become the second player in the history of Nigeria football to reach 100 caps, but he is getting to that milestone quicker than Joseph Yobo, who was 33 years, 9 months and 24 days when he starred against France at the World Cup.
The former Enyimba glovesman will clock 32 years, 6 months and 28 days on March 26.
