Chuba Akpom, Alex Iwobi To Wait For Champions League Debut
Published: March 17, 2015
According to the official website of Arsenal, Anglo - Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom has to wait to make his debut in Europe’s flagship club competition, the UEFA Champions League.
Manager Arsene Wenger has omitted the England youth - teamer from the squad list that took off to France on Monday afternoon for tonight’s eagerly anticipated meeting with Monaco.
Brazilian defender Gabriel, who joined The Gunners from Villarreal in the January transfer window, has taken Akpom’s place in the roster that squared off against West Ham this past weekend.
It also means attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi will not be on parade at the Stade Louis II on Tuesday.
Both Akpom and Iwobi were unused substitutes on matchday six of the Champions League in the 4 - 1 win over Galatasaray.
