Nigeria Qualify For AYC Final After Beating Ghana 2 - 0
The Flying Eagles have booked their place in the final of the African Youth Championship following their 2 - 0 win over the Black Satellites of Ghana at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar. <br /><br />Nigeria survived a wave of early pressure from the Ghanaian team before opening scoring in the 22nd minute through Obinna Nwobodo, whose header off a cross from Ifeanyi Matthew beat goalkeeper Michael Sai.<br /><br />Ten minutes later, Ghana would have leveled matters through Yaw Yeboah but his low shot hit the post.<br /><br />Before the interval, the Flying Eagles best opportunity fell to Ifeanyi, with his free- kick missing target by inches.<br /><br />In the second half, the midfielder was involved in the second goal netted by Nigeria after the referee awarded a penalty when he was fouled by Patrick Asmah.<br /><br />For the fourth time in the tournament, skipper Musa Mohammed kept his cool to bury the spot - kick in the 70th minute.<br /><br />Nigeria will await the winner of the other semi - final between Mali and Senegal on Thursday.<br /><br />Photo Credit : thenff.com<br />
