Sporting Kansas Defender Ike Opara Named To MLS Team Of The Week

For the second week running, a player of Nigerian descent has been named in the prestigious MLS Team of the Week.
Last week, FC Dallas striker Tesho Akindele was selected in the ceremonial top 11 footballers plying their trade in the MLS.
But in the recent Team of the Week published by mlssoccer.com on Monday night, the soon - to - be 23 - year - old only made the bench.
In a 4 - 4 - 2 formation, Sporting Kansas star Ike Opara earned a spot in the defense along with Kendall Waston (Vancouver Whitecaps), Ty Harden (San Jose Earthquakes) and Marcel de Jong (Sporting Kansas City) .
Opara gave Nigerian striker Fanendo Adi little space to operate in the goalless draw between Sporting KC and Portland Timbers on Sunday morning.
