Published: March 28, 2015
Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike has apologized to Fenerbahce over the incident in the Super Lig game against Istanbul rivals Besiktas last weekend.
Recall that the 27 - year - old attempted to walk away from the pitch before he was persuaded to return by the coaching staff led by İsmail Kartal
“I get angry too, and for a moment I was led to such a situation,” said Emmanuel Emenike, according to Fanatik.com.
“The truth is I was wearing my uniform, my teammates and I did not think it’s a lack of respect for the club at all.
“At that time, I put my head out of the game, and that’s why I pulled my shirt over.”
Fenerbahce higher - ups have informed the Nigeria international that the fans may possibly protest against him in their next game, but he should remain calm and not react.
Emenike has since resumed training with the Yellow Canaries, having been granted a two - day casual leave after the Besiktas game.
