Kelechi Iheanacho And Musa Yahaya Make Flying Eagles Provisional World Cup Roster
Published: April 06, 2015
SL10.ng has been informed that Nigeria Under 20s coach, Manu Garba, is set to hand recalls to Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho and Tottenham Hotspur trainee Musa Yahaya when he announces his provisional World Cup
roster in the coming days.
Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali, who played alongside the offensive-minded pair during the 2013 FIFA Under 17s, will also be called up for a training camp ahead of the tournament in New Zealand.
While Iheanacho and Yahaya missed the trip to Senegal for the African Youth Championship on account of injury, Chidiebere Nwakali was unavailable because he was finalizing his loan move to Malaga during the team’s training camp.
The Under 17 World Cup - winning manager has kept faith with all the players that made the African Youth Championship squad list, including Porto youngster Chidera Ezeh, who is battling to overcome a hamstring complaint.
In the goalkeeping department, the shaky display of Olorunleke Ojo in Senegal has earned Flash FC glovesman, Adamu Abubakar, a berth on the 35-man provisional roster.
Granada starlet Isaac Success missed the AYC after the Andalusian outfit failed to release him, but coach Manu Garba will be relying on him even beyond the training camp, having included the 19-year-old on the list.
Barring any last-minute changes, El-Cruzeiro sensation Michael Auta and Plateau United midfielder Saviour Godwin will both be observed during the training camp.
The Nigeria Football Federation submitted the preliminary list to FIFA before the April 1, 2015 deadline .
