Taiwo Awoniyi Brace Sends Nigeria To All Africa Games

The Nigeria Under 23s have qualified for the football event of the All Africa Games following their 2 - 1 win over their Zambian counterparts at the Heroes Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In the opening 15 minutes, both teams tried to size each other up. Mukuka Mulenga and Shadreck Malambo tried their luck from distance but it did not pose any problem to goalkeeper Daniel Emmanuel.
On 34 minutes, the Dream Team took a precious lead after sustained pressure, thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi .
Ronald Kampamba had a chance to level matters early in the second half but he fluffed his lines in front of goal, shooting wide from close range.
Fifteen minutes from time, Friday Samu conjured up an equalizer after being set up by Shadreck Malambo.
In the 86th minute, Taiwo Awoniyi extinguished the hopes of the Zambian fans by scoring his second goal in the colours of the Dream Team.
Samson Siasia’s side have followed in the footsteps of their female counterparts, the Super Falcons, by qualifying for the All Africa Games, which takes place in Congo - Brazzaville from September 4 - 19 .
