Delta Queens came back from a goal down to edge Confluence Queens 2-1 in a week 1 Nigeria Women Premier League encounter at the Oleh Township Stadium on Saturday.<br /><br />The Wada Queens were resolute against the highly rated Delta Queens side and gave a good account of themselves.<br /><br />Young attacker Ikeh Ginika put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute of play but her goal was wrongly disallowed.<br /><br />Midfielder Hannah Akpulonu again put the away side in front 25 minutes into the pulsating match.<br /><br />Delta Queens also had a goal that would have been the equalizer through Ajuyah Jennifer, however, it was ruled out for offside.<br /><br />The hosts fought back in the second half and capitalized on the defensive lapses of the visitors to snatch all the three points thanks to Uju Okafor<span class="body1">&rsquo;</span>s late brace.<br /><br />Speaking after the match through the club spokesperson Tosin Ojo, Technical Adviser of Confluence Queens, Musa Amorley insisted that his side gave a good fight even though they they lost.<br /><br />&ldquo;We had a fantastic game today (Saturday), though we deserved at least a draw but some defensive lapses cost us the defeat.<br /><br />&ldquo;Also, the home team fans also played some role by inciting the Referees in decision makings, which is bad for the development of the game.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;There are positives we can take from this game, we will also return home to work on our lapses too,&rdquo; the coach added.<br /><br />Confluence Queens will return home to host FC Robo in a week two tie at the Lokoja Confluence Queens on Sunday 10th May, 2015.<br /><span class="body1"></span><br />
