Seattle Sounders goal poacher Obafemi Martins has been named Player of the Week in the MLS for the ninth round of matches. <br /><br />The former Nigeria international netted a brace plus assisted the third goal in Seattle Sounders 3&nbsp; - 1 win against New York City FC on Sunday.<br /><br />Martins first hit target in the 23rd minute before grabbing a second goal just in the 66th minute to take his tally this season to six goals in seven matches.<br /><br />The Player of the Week award is voted on by North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) consisting of members of print, television, radio and online media.<br /><br />Obafemi Martins extended his contract with Seattle Sounders for three more years last October.<br /><br />Photo Credit : mlssoccer.com<br />
