Nigeria Women Football League Shifts Week Two Games For Super Falcons
Published: May 06, 2015
The management of the Nigeria Women Football League has shifted all its Week 2 matches slated to hold on Saturday 9th May to Sunday 10th May.
This according to the League Secretary Isaac Ajisafe is to enable the teams support the National Women Senior Team, Super Falcons in their Olympic qualifying match against Mali holding at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday.
The Super Falcons defeated the Malians 8-0 last month in Abuja, but the League scribe said the team needs the support and prayers of all Nigerians at this point.
He also said that the League body has received the approval of the NFF Executive Board to include two more teams in the Premier League to make it an even number.
Quoting his words, Ajisafe said “the NFF has approved the inclusion of two Women League clubs- COD United Ladies FC of Lagos and Capital City Doves FC of Abuja in addition to the Women Premier League Clubs to make an even number of Sixteen teams for the 2015 League Season, that would be shared eight in each of the groups”.
He went further to reveal that the Women League Body has instituted a monthly award for players that excelled in each of the months.
“The award is expected to begin this month, that is May. It would be for the best goalkeeper of the month, and the highest goal scorer.
“At the end of the season, we would now hold a general award ceremony that would be all embracing.
“This is in a way to encourage excellence in the League and bring the best out of our players”.
He said that the League body is ever ready to partner any private individual or organization that would want to buy into the program.
