Abubakar Musa : The Better Side Lost
Published: May 17, 2015
Assistant coach of Confluence Queens, Abubakar Musa has revealed that his side were the better side in their Nigeria Women Premier League week three encounter against Adamawa Queens at at the Atiku Abubakar Stadium in Fufure.
Both teams failed to convert their chances in the first half of the game.
A controversial penalty awarded to the homers and converted by Stella Nwadike in the 64th of the second half settled the match played under protest by Confluence Queens.
Before the game, the visitors filed a protest against the home team for fielding Florence David and Stella Nwadike, both were believed to be ineligible to play.
“Im impressed and satisfied by the performance of our players today (Saturday). We played better than Adamawa Queens, but it’s just unfortunate we lost the match.
“A funny penalty was awarded to them, for a long time I have never seen such a dubious penalty, I termed it scientific cheating .
“How can a penalty be awarded from a foul outside the box that was supposed to be against them?
“We just have to look ahead. Our focus now is on the next match against Osun Babes in front of our fans at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium,” Abubakar was quoted as saying by the club’s spokesperson Tosin Ojo.
Confluence Queens have only won a game from three matches played so far, with their only victory coming at home to FC Robo.
