Liverpool Icon Steven Gerrard Felicitates With Asisat Oshoala Over BBC Award

Liverpool striker Asisat Oshoala, 20, has scooped the inaugural BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year.
The Nigeria international was voted for by football fans allover the word and saw off competition from Verónica Boquete (Spain and FFC Frankfurt), Nadine Kessler (Germany and VFL Wolfsburg), Kim Little (Scotland and Seattle Reign FC) and Marta (Brazil and FC Rosengard).
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard was one of the first football personalities to congratulate the Super Falcons striker after she won the prestigious award.
“Congratulations to Liverpool Ladies’ Asisat Oshoala on being named BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2015,” Gerrard said.
Asisat Oshoala put herself in the shop window at the 2014 Fifa Under 20s in Canada, winning the highest scorer and most valuable player of the competition.
