Fresh Crisis Rocks Prime FC, Players Owed Nine Months Salaries
Published: May 27, 2015
Unless something urgent is done by the Osun State Government to clear the backlog of debts owed the players and officials of Prime Football Club, we gathered the players have resolved to embark on yet another strike and boycott all the league matches involving the team.
After going through hell in the last nine months there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the 2012 Federation Cup Bronze medalist as the Osun State Government has neglected the club.
Things has been extremely difficult for the team since last season and the last time the players and officials of the Omoluabi Giants received salary was August, 2014 and they are now been owed 9 months salaries and backlog of match bonuses.
It will be recalled that the players of the team went on strike before the league kickoff pressing for their unpaid wages.
We gathered that things are so tight for the team that they have to travel at night back to Oshogbo from Lagos after their Week 2 match against Ikorodu United.
“We are facing lots of difficulties at the moment and we are demoralized with the situation of things in the team.
“It’s so unfortunate that the Osun State Government has neglected the team as nothing is forth-coming to us financially.
“We want to use this medium to appeal to Governor Rauf Aregbesola to come to our rescue as soon as possible.
“We have now turn to beggers on the streets of Oshogbo and we have now decided to boycott the league if things did not improve after our weekend home match against Abia Comets,”one of the aggrieved players said.
