Ex Tottenham Hotspur And Fulham Defender William Troost-Ekong Did Not Think Twice Before Choosing Nigeria Ahead Of Holland

FC Groningen defender William Troost-Ekong has stated that it would be a dream come true if he makes his debut for the Super Eagles next weekend against Chad in an Afcon qualifying fixture.
The 21 - year - old has caps for Holland U20s but was invited to the Nigerian senior team after pledging his international future to the African powerhouse.
“It’s something that I have been saying for a long time, I don’t think the NFF was aware of me, ” William Troost-Ekong said to thenff.com.
“I played in the Netherlands and England, and the easy option was for me to play for the Netherlands.
“But I always said from the start I was interested in playing for Nigeria and I am bvery thankful that my hardwork has paid off.”
William Troost-Ekong , who previously starred for the youth teams of Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, is not in Abuja to make up the numbers and has the ambition of breaking into the first team of the Super Eagles.
“My aim is to contribute and be part of the reform in the new Super Eagles. It would be a dream come true if I can go into this role and eventually become a leader in the team.
“I am happy I am here and show the team what I can do, ” the Akwa Ibom State indigene added.
William Troost-Ekong appeared 22 times (17 starts) in the Eredivisie in the course of last season and was cautioned twice.
