FC Dallas Striker Tesho Akindele Primed For Canada Debut After Turning His Back On Nigeria And USA

FC Dallas striker Tesho Akindele has turned his back on Nigeria after accepting a call - up to represent the Canadian National Team in their World Cup qualifiers against Dominica next week.
The 23 - year - old can also don the colours of the United States and trained with the squad in January but did not make the 23 - man roster for friendlies against Chile and Panama.
“At the end of the day, my whole life I’ve been a Canadian, and I’ve always thought about playing for the Canadian national team.” Akindele said to MLSSoccer.com.
“So I kind of thought that was my goal always. So that’s what I should go for.
“It’s exciting. It’s an honor. “It’s something you dream about since you’re a little kid, so it’s really exciting that it’s finally come true.”
Born in Calgary, Alberta, the 2014 MLS Rookie of the Year has played for Canada’s U17s once.
