Hungary U20s Coach Blames Poor Fitness For Loss To Nigeria
Published: June 07, 2015
The coach of Hungary Under 20s, Bernd Storck, has rued his team’s loss to Nigeria and has suggested that some players in the squad were not in tip -top condition unlike their previous two matches in the first round.
Nonetheless, the German tactician has conceded that the African champions were superior in all facets of the game.
“Today our players’ fitness level was not at 100 per cent, as it was against Brazil, and to keep pace with an opposition like Nigeria is difficult.
“We started well for the first 15 minutes but they were better. I wanted to give a chance to all my players so I can test their level against these quality sides and I am happy that I managed to do that.
“About our opponents Serbia, I have seen a little bit of their games so far and I hope my players will be 100 per cent fit in time for that game,” Bernd Storck told reporters after Sunday morning’s game.
Despite the loss, Hungary are one of the 16 teams that will compete in the knock out rounds and will face Serbia on Wednesday afternoon.
